Fiber reinforced plastics (FRPs) are light in weight and high in strength. These are the features behind the increasing use of these materials in the transport industry. Examples include aircraft wings made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic and ship doors made of glass fiber reinforced plastic. However, these materials require special processing and error and damage recognition requires special knowledge. This means that qualified employees are an absolute prerequisite for using FRPs.

Fraunhofer IFAM developed the FRP-Remanufacturer course to meet the special requirements for FRP repair. The focus is on training employees to repair the functionality of damaged FRP components on rail vehicles.
